RX for Science Literacy Workshop

Audience:  Teachers, all grades

This workshop is free and includes presentations and interactive discussions with researchers, a tour of laboratory and animal facilities, and materials to bring back to the classroom.  This workshop has three objectives:

  • Increase awareness of the benefits (to both humans and animals) of the use of animals in biomedical research.
  • Increase understanding of the humane and responsible use of animals in research.
  • Provide participants with information that they can bring back to the classroom.

Each participant is provided with The What, Where, How and Why of Health Science Research curriculum manual which incorporates background information, lesson plans, handouts and activities to assist teachers in the classroom. The manual captures the complex research process in an easy-to-follow and easy-to-use format. Whether you use one unit or the entire manual, you'll have the information you need at your fingertips.

This curriculum was developed by the North Carolina Association for  Biomedical Research (NCABR).
